I gave a very brief (5-minute) overview of what Logos Bible Software is doing generally in annotation, and our interests in open annotation on the Web. A few points:

  • Editorial annotation is a key component of our business model, particularly linguistic information and curated datasets which we tie to original texts
  • We provide a wide variety of ways for users to annotate our texts, along with displaying and sharing those annotations
  • Some areas of interest in open annotation on the Web (outside our own platform):
    • Standardizing reference schemes, including mapping between different versions and editions
    • Cross-lingual word-level alignment
    • Semantic annotation of domain-specific datasets
    • Bibliographic references
    • Importing annotations from the web or other platforms
